Congratulations To Our Marathon Heroes, Georgie and Mark!

We are thrilled to congratulate Georgie Mancais and Mark Mariathas for their incredible achievement in completing the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April, all in support of our Life Chances Campaign.

Georgie, who works at Apollo — one of our valued Life Chances donors — took on the challenge for the first time, while Mark, an Interventional Cardiologist, made a welcome return after running for EECF in 2022. Both runners put in a fantastic performance, demonstrating true dedication and heart as they crossed the finish line to help make a real difference across the East End.

Reflecting on the day, Georgie said:
“Taking part in the London Marathon was an incredible experience, and I’m so proud to have run for EECF. It’s not just about crossing the finish line — it’s about making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. The East End is such a vibrant community, and I’m honored to be part of this journey to help tackle isolation, poverty, and inequality. Thank you to everyone who supported me!”

Mark, who grew up in the East End and still has strong family ties to Newham, added:
“Having grown up in the East End, this cause is deeply personal to me. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to run the London Marathon again in support of the Life Chances Campaign. It’s about giving back to a community that shaped who I am today, and knowing that the funds raised will help improve lives across the area is truly fulfilling. A big thank you to everyone who donated and showed their support — together, we’re making a lasting impact!”

Life Chances brings together corporate and individual donors to collectively invest for greater social impact in the areas of pensioner poverty and isolation, youth unemployment and wellbeing, and digital inequality.

We are so proud of Georgie and Mark’s amazing efforts and the vital funds they have raised. Thank you both for going the extra mile — quite literally!
