The East End Community Foundation (EECF) has launched the next phase of its transformative Life Chances Campaign, aiming to raise £4 million by 2028 to double its impact in tackling some of the East End’s most pressing challenges.
The campaign, which was first launched in 2021 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and cost-of-living crisis, has already raised £2.4 million, supporting over 10,000 vulnerable local people. By working with 30+ delivery partners, the programme has addressed issues such as pensioner poverty, digital exclusion, youth employment, and mental health.
Now, as EECF marks its 35th anniversary, the launch of Life Chances Phase II (2025-2028) aims to expand on this success—ensuring even greater, long-term investment in East End communities.
Corporate Support Driving Change
The campaign continues to attract vital backing from corporate partners committed to driving real, lasting impact.
Tom Clementi, Chief Executive Officer at Pool Re, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership:
“We are very pleased to partner with the East End Community Foundation and support their important work in London. At Pool Re, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we operate, and the EECF’s focus on improving life chances and tackling inequality aligns with our values. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
Linklaters LLP reaffirmed its long-standing support as a Patron of the Life Chances Campaign, recognising the initiative’s wide-reaching impact:
“Linklaters is thrilled to reaffirm its commitment as a Patron of the Life Chances Campaign, supporting the East End Community Foundation as it embarks on the transformative second phase of 2025-2028. This impactful initiative addresses pressing challenges, such as pensioner poverty, digital inequality, mental health, and youth employment, significantly benefitting communities throughout the East End of London. We are honoured to contribute to a comprehensive, locally rooted initiative that delivers tangible improvements in the lives of those most in need. Together, we are nurturing a brighter future for our community. We look forward to helping ensure the EECF’s continued success, driving meaningful, long-term benefits for East End communities.”
The Artemis Charitable Foundation also expressed its commitment to the programme’s inclusive and community-driven approach:
“The Artemis Charitable Foundation is proud to partner with EECF and support their next Life Chances programme. What we love about the programme is how it embraces the whole community in the East End, both young and old. Working with various local organisations means the support is directed and delivered by those working and living in their communities. They understand what their community needs and how best to support it.”
Looking to the Future
With the launch of Phase II, EECF is building on its strong foundation to deepen its impact and reach even more vulnerable people. The focus remains on tackling key social inequalities while ensuring every pound raised goes directly towards programme delivery.
Sally Bateson, Life Chances Campaign Director at EECF, highlighted the significance of this next phase:
“The Life Chances Campaign is about making a real, long-term difference in the East End. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and corporate partners, we have already supported thousands of vulnerable people. Now, as we embark on the next phase, we are determined to scale up our impact and reach even more individuals in need. By working together, we can create lasting change and ensure that everyone in our community has the opportunity to thrive.”
As Phase II gains momentum, EECF continues to call on businesses and donors to join the campaign, ensuring that East End communities receive the support they need to build a better future.
