Rothesay Foundation pledges £150,000 to EECF’s Winter Appeal

Rothesay Foundation

We are delighted to announce that the Rothesay Foundation, the charitable foundation of the UK’s largest pensions insurance specialist, Rothesay, has made a three-year commitment of £150,000 to support our Winter Appeal, helping to protect vulnerable pensioners across East London during the colder months. This generous contribution has supported 1,000 pensioners living in poverty in 2025 and will enable us to reach a further 2,000 over the next two years.  This new commitment follows the Rothesay Foundation’s £150,000 multi-year pledge to our Life Chances campaign and their £50,000 commitment to our 2024 Winter Appeal.

This pledge represents a major contribution towards our Winter Appeal target and is providing vital, sustained support at a time when many pensioners continue to face the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis. The Rothesay Foundation’s commitment will enable EECF and its network of community partners to deliver vital care packages that offer warmth, comfort and connection to those living in poverty.

EECF’s Winter Appeal raises funds to ensure that no one in the East End is left cold, hungry or alone this winter. The Appeal helps pensioners access warm spaces, nutritious food, winter essentials and social support, all of which can make a life-changing difference during the harshest months of the year.

Tracey Betts, EECF’s Chief Executive said:

“We are immensely grateful to the Rothesay Foundation for this remarkable show of support. Their multi-year commitment will allow us to plan ahead and reach those who need it most, not just this winter, but for years to come. While this funding represents a major step towards our goal, more support is needed to ensure we can meet the growing demand across East London.”

This multi-year funding will provide at least 3,000 essential winter care packages, helping local pensioners stay warm, nourished, and connected.

James Dickson, Chairman of the Rothesay Foundation:

“The Rothesay Foundation is proud to partner with EECF to support vulnerable residents across East London. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving the quality of life for older people, ensuring that they can stay warm, safe and connected throughout the winter months.”

The East End Community Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the Rothesay Foundation for their continued partnership and leadership in addressing some of the most pressing challenges faced by local communities.
