Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions below. You will find more information in the fund guidelines that accompany each of our funding programmes, and in our general grant guidelines. Please check the fund guidelines to see if your organisation is eligible to apply. We ask that you check our funds and guidelines about before contacting our Grants Team.

Making an application
We are currently unable to respond to any unsolicited requests for funding outside of our available grant programmes listed on our website. We do however provide a regular newsletter updating you of new funding programmes as they come online. You can register to receive the newsletter here
Our general guidelines provide information about eligibility for organisations.
Yes. If you meet the criteria for the fund, you can apply to and hold any of our funds at the same time. You cannot however hold more than one grant from the same fund.
No, we are not able to double-fund your project or match fund using different programmes; funding can only support different activities.
This will depend on the fund you apply to and the criteria. We typically support small or grassroots community groups or organisations working in the local community, with a turnover of less than £1.5m. We are unlikely to support London-wide or national organisations and are less likely to support organisations with a £multimillion turnover unless stated in the guidelines.
For all of our grants programmes we run a workshop giving you more details of that fund, what makes a good application and how to apply. Workshop dates will be posted on our resources page and within the specific grant guidelines. We can offer one-to-one support with your application if you have any questions.
Making an application
Grant awards range from £500 up to £30,000. Each of our grant's programmes will have their own criteria and guidelines so please check the amount you can apply for.
Yes. Supporting documents should be submitted to the Foundation within 5 working days of submitting your application. If we do not receive them within 5 working days, your application will be ineligible.
Each fund has its own criteria, and these are listed within the fund’s guidelines. Please read the guidelines for the fund you’re applying to before submitting your application.
None of our current grant programmes are likely to support fundraising costs.
EECF’s grant programmes support many groups which are motivated by faith values, and we recognise the role of faith groups in supporting local communities. However, we are not able to support groups for a project that promotes a certain faith, or for projects that are exclusively available to those of a certain faith.
Yes, but you must be constituted and have a minimum of three people managing your group.
Yes, we do fund CICs but you must read the guidelines carefully for the fund to which you’re applying, to make sure that your organisation and project is eligible. Ordinarily we will only fund CICs that have been operating longer than 12 months.
Yes, however you will need to identify a constituted organisation to act as your accountable body or ‘parent organisation’. For example, this could be a local charity or housing association that is willing to hold the grant money on your behalf. The application form should be completed by you, and you must have written agreement from the accountable body demonstrating they support you.
No, we cannot fund individuals, only groups.
Yes. After completing the application, you will receive a copy of the form completed attached in an email confirmation.
All applications are submitted online via our portal, and links are provided within the specific fund guidelines.
We want to make sure our funding is accessible to everyone. If you are unable to make an application online, please contact us and we will make alternative arrangements.
After you’ve applied
If your grant is successful
Our programmes may have varying timescales however we endeavour to have the results for you within 12 weeks of submission.
An assessment will compare your proposal with the criteria of the fund. Our assessment will primarily focus on the information you have provided in your application, and information that is in the public domain such your website, information filed on Charity Commission etc. If we need clarification or have any questions, we will contact you by email or phone
For all funding EECF distributes through its own funds, decision are made by Trustees, with advice from local residents and key stakeholders. For many of our programmes local grants panels have been established to make the decision. For those funds that are not restricted by a specific geographical area, the panel responsible for making the decision is often convened by the Foundation, or a decision may be made directly by the donor.
Your letter of notification will let you know briefly why your application was unsuccessful, and we can provide individual feedback if that is helpful.
If you want to make a complaint about our funding process, our team or how your application has been managed, then please email admin@eastendcf.org. Please note, we know it can be disappointing if you are not awarded funding, but you cannot use the complaints process to appeal the outcome of your application. We will only review a decision if there is evidence you were treated unfairly, discriminated against or we mishandled your application in any way.
If your grant is successful
Unless otherwise specified in the terms and conditions issued to you, you must spend your grants within one year of your grant payment. However, you should check your terms and conditions as some grants will have shorter delivery periods.
If you are unable to deliver your project within the timeframe, please contact the EECF Grants Team to discuss the options available to you. Where possible we will provide a grant extension, but this is dependent on the criteria of the fund.
If awarded a grant you should only spend money on the items you identified in your application. We recognise things change and you can move money but this should only be up to 10% of your budget. Anything above this, please contact the EECF Grants Team to discuss.
You must speak to us if you have unspent funds. It is possible to submit a request by email or in writing to the EECF Grant Team for changes to a funded project and budget.

Yes, we require all grants to be reported on; an online form will be emailed to you towards the end of your project. These are generated automatically to reach you 12 months from the date of your award. If there are changes to your schedule, you must let us know. For some funds we may ask for interim funding, mid-way through your project, and this will be stated in the guidelines, or we will notify you of this within the offer letter.
