We’re delighted to announce the launch of the Housing Association Consortium Fund. It’s a new partnership with housing associations Peabody, Poplar Harca, Clarion, Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing and One Housing. It’s a great example of collaborative giving in action and the cornerstone of our Life Chances Campaign. Bringing donors together to pool and target their funds is the most effective way of creating the lasting change we so desperately need in the East End.
The special £35,000 fund opens today, to help local residents in Tower Hamlets access support and opportunities to increase confidence, develop new skills, secure employment, and gain greater financial security.
The fund is open to organisations based in or delivering projects in Canary Wharf, Cubitt Town and Millwall, Stepney, Bow East & Bow West, Aldgate and Whitechapel. To apply for a grant or find out more, visit East End Community Foundation’s website. https://eastendcf.org/tower-hamlets-grants/
Sahil Khan is Director for Community Strategy, Partnerships and Funding at Peabody. “The Housing Association Consortium Fund will support new grassroots projects to get started or develop further so that we can make a real impact in our communities. The fund has been designed to bring to life a range of community projects which will benefit and bring together people from across the borough. We welcome diverse local groups to share their ideas with us so that we can help to make lasting positive changes across Tower Hamlets. We will be actively encouraging local organisations to apply to bring about this positive change in the community.
Babu Bhattacherjee, is Director of Communities and Neighbourhood at Poplar HARCA. “We’re proud to be part of the Life Chances Campaign. The Housing Association Consortium Fund demonstrates how organisations with shared values can work together to achieve greater community value than individually possible. This collective fund headed up by East End Community Foundation will enable grassroots organisations to deliver projects which tackle key issues faced by our community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact the programme has on the lives of residents.”
Matt Parsonage, Head of Communities at Clarion Futures is delighted to be supporting the Life Chances Campaign. “We hope will make a huge difference to the lives of Tower Hamlets residents. Collaboration between partners and local organisations can transform communities and we are looking forward to seeing the fund in action in the coming months.”
Dominic Briant, Head of Funding and Research at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) believes Housing Associations can have so much more impact working together. “We’re in a unique environment where it’s in our best interests to collaborate rather than compete and, often, we serve the same communities. Most of the time, leaders of social action need to hunt down small funding pots and tell their story multiple times. This takes energy away from the work that needs to be done. Tower Hamlets is important to MTVH. However, our size of stock means we do not have intimate knowledge of all the key players making things happen. The Life Chances Fund and East End Community Foundation will help the money reach the right places. I look forward to replicating this in other areas.”
‘This fund could make a real difference,’ says Ruth Stanger, Resident Engagement and Partnerships Officer at One Housing and urges local groups to apply.
