With all the challenges thrown at young people today, EECF targets support to help them develop key skills to survive and thrive.
Our innovative Youth Employment Scheme (YES) brings together the talents of our corporate partners with grassroots organisations to help young people develop the essential soft skills that will help them gain and sustain work. The project helps raise career aspirations, develop confidence, resilience, self-awareness, drive and self-assurance, increase access to build professional networks, and secure work experience.
Using fun, role-play activities, like our ‘Dragons Den’ events, young people get to test out their communications skills and their powers of persuasion. Sessions also provide one-to-one support in CV writing. The programme also brings together young people from our corporate partners who are already established in their career. They talk about their experiences and offer advice. This is often the most popular aspect of the training.
‘I was feeling a bit confused about how to go about getting work, but today has helped me think about the steps I should take. It’s also made me think about how it will affect my career in the future.’ Mohammed
We also deliver accredited training in partnership with MyBnk, in how to best manage personal finances and learn more about the wider financial sector.
‘With my new-gained knowledge on how loans and debts operate, especially how it works for people that use them, I will be able to better manage my money going forward’. Rhianna
Whilst COVID has presented a great many challenges to the delivery of the programme, events were switched on-line. Over the course of a year to March 2022, EECF delivered 11 workshops, reaching over 100 young people.
If you would like to donate or provide a one-week work placement for a young person, please do get in touch.
